Short version
Chinese and English Bible (web) does not collect your personal data. Your bookmarks, notes, highlights, reading history, and preferences live only in your own browser. We collect anonymous traffic stats via Vercel Analytics — no cookies, no identification.
What we collect
Local data (stays on your device)
The following is stored in your browser's localStorage and IndexedDB and never uploaded:
- Bookmarks, notes, highlights (IndexedDB)
- Reading history and daily reading time (IndexedDB)
- Reading-plan progress (localStorage)
- Preferences: translation, font size, theme, UI language (localStorage)
Clearing browser data or uninstalling the PWA removes it all.
Anonymous traffic stats
We use Vercel Analytics for anonymous pageview data to understand which chapters are popular and how the site performs. Vercel Analytics uses no cookies, does not collect IPs, and does not build user profiles. It is GDPR-compliant. See Vercel's privacy policy.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
This site uses Google AdSense to display ads. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve personalized ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can manage preferences or opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ad Settings. Google's ad-related privacy policy: policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
Audio streams
Audio is streamed from these third parties, each with their own privacy policies:
- NIV English: BibleGateway
- Mandarin / Cantonese: WordPro Audio
What we don't do
- ❌ No accounts. We never ask for your name, email, or phone
- ❌ We set no tracking cookies of our own (advertising cookies are managed by Google)
- ❌ We don't sell user-identifying data
- ❌ No access to contacts, photos, location, or other device data
Children
This site is open to users of all ages and does not specifically target children for data collection.
Changes
This policy may be updated occasionally. The "last updated" date at the top reflects revisions. We'll surface significant changes in the app.
